Elizabeth

Elizabeth suffered her entire life. She suffered from the devastation of infertility. Although her and her Husband were both "righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commands and decrees blamelessly" (Luke 1:6), they were still not able to have the one thing that they wanted so badly.

Still they lived their lives in a way that honored God. They were, by all accounts, faithful servants. Even though the one thing they yearned for was still out of their reach. Then one day Zechariah, Elizabeth's Husband, went to do his job at the temple. While he was serving the Lord an Angel came to him and told him that they were going to conceive and finally have all that their hearts had desired. Zechariah, of course, was a touch skeptical, because they were super old. After striking him mute for his unbelief, which I personally think was a merciful act for Elizabeth I mean how great would that have been to have a Hubby who couldn't speak through your mood swings, but I digress. The Angel told Zechariah that not only was it true, but that his son would "Be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.16 He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God.17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." (Luke 1:14-17)

What's my point you ask? The Lord hears the prayers of His people. He cares about the suffering in your life and in mine. And when the time is right, and I mean GOD'S right, you will get the desires of your heart. Until then we should whine and cry and...Oh wait, no, while we are waiting we should be faithful, righteous, servants of God. Then when you do get what you had always dreamed of having it will be sweeter than your wildest dreams. They didn't just get a baby they got a baby that prepared people for the coming Lord.

In the time between the right time and now, don't forget to pray. He will always equip you with what you need to get through. Strength, comfort, wisdom, friends, love, support, anything you NEED. You aren't in this wait alone He never leaves your side.
