You ask God for things in your life. He has promised good for you all your life. But do you believe it? Do you believe that He is going to make good on the promises He has made?
"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!" Luke 1:45
Life and people can make you forget that promises can be kept. And maybe that's because humans rarely do, but God is different. He will do as He says and like it says in Luke Blessed is she who can believe it.
I don't know about you, but I am desperate to be blessed. I want to believe in everything that He has promised. It makes the days that are low a little more bearable to know that all things will be used for His glory.
Right after this in Luke Mary sings a song in Elizabeth's house. It's a fantastic song of joy and of promises fulfilled. This song that pours from Mary's soul is coming at probably the hardest time in her life. She has just found out she is pregnant with God's child. She is engaged to be married, but not married. Facing the certain disdain of everyone she knows, and possibly even death. Yet her soul sang out in joy.
"My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors."
Will you join me this week in trusting the Lord in His promises and letting your soul sing out with joy no matter what situation you find yourself in?
