So yesterday I celebrated something of a milestone.
It was 10 years ago yesterday that I underwent brain surgery. I made it through and beat a bunch of odds. It was also the first time I really had to test just how strong I was.
I had long curly hair, they shaved it. I was an 18 year old vibrant girl with a social life, I had to lay in a bed at a 45 degree angle for 4 months. I was VERY independent, and now I couldn't go to the bathroom without help.
I will tell you this, I had NO idea how much I could handle. I had no clue at all how strong I was. I was afraid of spiders and throwing up, how in the world could I deal with this? The trick is, that I didn't. The strength I used was Divine.
We can do so much when we tap into the power and the strength that is readily available for us to use! The thing is we rarely ask. We go on and on using our autopilot and just getting by. Why? He is delighted when we ask and more delighted to fulfill our needs.
I could not have overcome the obstacles that were set out in front of me on my own. I had the loving support of my family and friends, which was essential, trust me. More than that, though, I had the ever vigilant care and strength from my Savior. A Savior that saved me not just eternally, but right here on earth.
So the next time it looks like you can't, stop, pray, and feel the power of the Almighty telling you that you absolutely can.
Wow, Sara - I had no idea you went through all that. 10 years - what a milestone! Thanks for pouring out the strength you've received to the rest of us when we need it most :)
