And So it Begins

Tomorrow morning I will hear the familiar sound of children waking up and realizing that they have somewhere to be. I will see them rub sleep out of their eyes and shake the cobwebs out of their summer infused brains to begin another year of learning. Not only will I have to relinquish control of one of my babies, but this year it is two out of three. This of course means that I have to steady myself and dust the cobwebs off of my own "schedule skills".

I get to witness my middle baby take her first steps toward education and see how well I have done at getting her ready for life away from Mommy's skirt. Will she be polite? Will she remember to share? Will she kick out the screen and jump out of the window? Will she call the teacher a jerk? Ok now I am starting to freak out! Nah I have faith in my baby girl. She knows when to behave. Right? Oh God I hope so!

I spent last night doing book reports with my first born to stretch her muscles for learning. Get her ready for a new year and new experiences. A little more timid than I thought she would be. I expected her to be an old pro at this by now taking to the first day as if it was just another day. I was wrong. There are a few jitters. Will anyone like me? Will any of my friends from last year be there? Will it be too hard? Will my teacher be nice? Great now she is starting to freak out! I'm sure of this, she will do fine. She will make friends and she will love her new teacher.

My third born, sweet cherub of a little boy, is just happy that Mommy will be all his. I get the chance to know him one on one this year. I can't wait. He will mature and grow up so much this year as he moves toward the tremendous twos! I am so excited to see him blossom a personality and get to know who he will be in this family.

So I have to get moving now. I have to pack a back pack and shower and dress a new four year old. Then I am going to hold her tiny hand and guide her toward her very first experience with school. I know one thing is certain, I am praying hard for all of my babies as they begin their new journeys. That God would keep them in His mighty hands. Watch over them as they go on their way. And to help me to help them.
