Willy Nilly Wonky Weekends

So as I was panicking like a fiend last night my Husband informed me that it happens EVERY weekend on either Saturday or Sunday night.

What is with that? What is it about the weekend that is making my anxiety peak? Blerg! I don't want to mar every weekend with my bologna. (I just sang the Oscar Mayer song when I typed bologna, and just now again.) Do any of you other Emets or anxiety sufferers have this issue?

So I sat down to think about it and I think it all comes down to control. During the week I have a schedule, a routine, a modicum of control over things that happen. Then the weekend comes along and everything is all willy nilly. Meals are whenever it is convenient and bed times are rather s. And I never know what is going to happen. So my mind never has a chance to wrap itself around a plan. I can never prepare for what's coming. I think that takes it's toll after a couple of days.

So now I am thinking to myself, what on earth am I going to do ALL SUMMER LONG?! There are no schedules or routines. There is just blank time, in which, anything can arise. AHHHHHHH! So my dilemma is this, do I schedule the kids and break the days into planned chunks? Do I fight through my crap and let the kids be kids and run free and enjoy their summer? Or is there some middle ground. I am so black and white in my thinking that I rarely see the compromise.

And completely off topic, but what in the world is with all of this stomach virus around lately? IT'S JUNE! Just in case the viruses didn't get the memo, they were supposed to vacate the premises like 2 months ago so I could relax a bit. They don't care. Mostly because they aren't equipped with a brain for independent thinking, but I digress.

Now I suppose I will begin my process of praying and trying to figure out my summer. Hopefully I can stop over thinking long enough to hear the answers. Any insight is welcome, as always!

  1. Hi Sara,
    Maybe this will help?

There's nothing wrong with being scheduled during the summer! I found it especially helpful when the kids were younger. You can always stick in a "free" day or "free" afternoon where you have no plans and let them decide what to do!

Just read your latest post... saying a prayer for you right now!

    1. Totally awesome advice Stephanie! Thank you so much! Thank you for the prayer as well. I try not to get that down, but I just was last night. Either way, thanks for always being a faithful prayer warrior for me.
