Friday Morning Thoughts

This Sunday my kids get dedicated at Church. After that we are celebrating Bailey's birthday and the dedication at our house. Her Birthday is Monday, so she asked to see Winnie the Pooh at the movie theater. On Tuesday is Kyra's orientation for first grade followed IMMEDIATELY by my very first MOPS Steering meeting.

All of this means that my anxiety this morning is SUPER HIGH. Compounded by the fact that a few of my Facebook friends have the stomach virus. This scares the crud out of me. Not because I have seen them or think they may have given it to me, just that it's out there in my community right now. The crazy thoughts in my head are saying, "What if you get it with ALL of this stuff going on in the next few days?"

To combat these negative thought processes I have been learning how to positive self talk with truth statements. So I would tell myself, "The odds of you getting a virus that interrupts these activities is small and worrying about it won't help." Which would be awesome if I could believe those thoughts. In times like this were the anxiety is out of control I don't trust that these things are true.

I am working also on memorizing scripture during these attacks. I find the more I can learn the calmer I feel. Perhaps it is distracting my brain and causing me to focus elsewhere or perhaps it is just His word washing over me, either way I know that He pointed me in that direction. So to my emet friends who stop by try this out it is awesome! Look up the word anxious in the concordance in the back of your bible and search until you find a verse that speaks to you and then memorize it. Work hard on it and pray for God to help you focus on that instead of the panic. I swear it works!

So that's all I've got for this Friday morning, I am learning new things and trying things out. I am anxious, but learning how to help myself through the power of His word. And I am busy. Just plain busy. And blessed, very blessed.
