7 years ago today I married my best friend. We went to a beautiful Rock Garden in Akron Park at sunset. Romantic, right? It was. It was a dream. We had known each other only two weeks. That was all it took for me to know. I looked into his big brown eyes and I knew that no matter what life tossed at us that we would stick together and make it better together.
We went to that rock garden alone. Just us and the JP. This was not a popular choice when we told our families, but we wanted our wedding day to be about us and our romance and not drama. Let me tell you that given that we had only known each other a short time, there would have been drama. We have no regrets, other than not being married by our pastor.
The air was warm, it smelled of the gorgeous flowers blooming in the garden, and the setting sun made a embracing orange glow around us, and it was perfect. I wore a dress from Penny's and he wore his Dad's good church pants and a blue borrowed shirt. His tie mirrored the blooming flowers and I wore a gardenia in my hair.
When we stood to take our vows I didn't waiver. There were no butterflies in my tummy. (there was no baby either for the record) I knew what we were doing was God's plan and I had NO doubts. When we kissed at the end of our small ceremony I felt whole.
That's the story of our wedding. It didn't cost 20,000 dollars and it wasn't the event of the century, but it was the biggest event of our lives and it did not disappoint. It was small and romantic and God was in the center. That's why it worked and that's why it still works 7 years and three babies later. I love my handsome hubby and I think he likes me a little too. :)
(Sorry for the glare :))
