The Gluten Factor

So the other night I was suffering AGAIN from tummy issues. I sat back and recalled what I had eaten all day and realized the only thing I had ingested all day was carbs. As an emet I often eat carbs as comfortable food. Things I know won't make me ill. Then my Husband says, "Have you ever been tested for wheat allergies?" And I thought well no I haven't. In all of the scads of tests I have had that was not one of them.

So I open up the laptop and google Gluten allergy symptoms. I'll be darned. As I am going down the list there is the digestive stuff, check; then I keep looking down the list Anxiety, UH check; keratosis Pilaris, check; upper respiratory infections, check; and so on and so forth. The biggest surprise to me was the anxiety thing. Could this be it? Could this be my answer?

I have been praying for an answer to this crazy unmanageable mental illness. Could it all come down to a peice of bread? Really? It seems too simple. I have been taking insane meds and paying therapists and rocking in corners repeating "mantras" so it was a no brainer to say yeah I think I'll try the gluten free thing for 8 weeks to see if there is a difference!

So here begins my 8 week journey on the gluten free path. I would like to thank all of my friends who have already helped me I will definitely be calling you for more! This Blog I found is pretty awesome too! glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com

This may not be the answer, but it is TOTALLY worth a try. Wish me luck!

  1. definitely worth a try!! i used to be lactose intolerant when i was in elementary school. except we didn't know if for years, and for years i had these uncomfortable symptoms that the doctor thought was due to anxiety about school. nope. just allergic to everything with milk! life got a lot better after we figured that one out!
