So we have the flu. All of us. (Respiratory flu, relax fellow emets.)
We have gone through a lot of Kleenex, an enormous amount of children's Ibuprofen, countless cough drops, and ALL of my patience.
Seriously all of it. You know how people say, "You are on my last nerve"? Yeah, that last one's gone too. I'm ready to snap.
No matter how sick we ALL are somebody has to get up and take care of things and keep up with the laundry and the dishes and dole out the meds and take temps at 3 am. It seems that somebody is ME.
It would be super easy for me to get resentful right now. To begin harboring nasty feelings toward my Hubby for laying down and resting, but from this moment on I am choosing a better way.

"And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
1 Thessalonians 5:14-18
I will choose to give thanks for all of this. Thanks that it's not the stomach bug, thanks that I have a family to care for, thanks that I live in a place where medicine and doctors are readily available. I will choose to take care of my family, who are weak right now, and be patient with them. I will strive to do what's good for each and every one of them. Because that's what God has commanded me to do. And if I ask for Him to equip me with the tools to do His work, He will always come through for me.
So today I will ask for patience, strength, healing, and an abundance of grace.
