Praying for Freedom

I read this in a book of prayers last night. It struck me so deeply. Somehow God gave me the words I couldn't come up with on my own. So this is my prayer for me and for all of you who wrestle with fear and doubt.

Lord, I ask in the name of Jesus that You would deliver me from fear. Let doubt be gone! Let cynicism flee! Instead of a spirit that makes me a slave again to fear, I have received the Spirit of sonship (or daughtership). Abba, Father, rescue me from terror, dread, and the fearful anticipation of things that scare me. I cannot do this on my own. Deliver me, Lord, to Your freedom and peace. Amen

"The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."

Romans 8:15-17
