The Fallen

Memorial Day is leaving me heavy hearted.

I am spending this weekend with my family all together with joy and fun and love. But not all are so lucky. Fathers, Sons, Mothers, Daughters, Brothers, and Sisters will be missing from picnics all over our country. They are the fallen. The ones who were so brave and courageous that they fought for us knowing the ultimate sacrifice that may be asked of them and did it anyway.

There are families that will have to look at the empty space at the table that mirrors a deep empty ache in their hearts.

So I am asking that while you enjoy your time with your family this Memorial Day weekend that you stop turn your eyes to God and say, "Thank you." Thank you for those brave and rare souls who fought to allow me the freedom to be with my family today. Thank you for the family I have around me that is close enough to hug.

If you are someone with an empty seat, know that it's not over, one day you will join your loved one again in a place with no war, no death, and no tears. We can go there because of another brave and rare soul who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Go to Jesus. He knows where you are and He can help to ease the ache.

If you are someone who has served, thank you. Just thank you.
