I want to share an old magazine snippet with you.
"I have no respect for justice. I break hearts and ruin lives. I am cunning, malicious and gather strength with age. The more I am quoted, the more I am believed. I flourish at every level of society. My victims are helpless. They cannot protect themselves against me because I have no name and no face. To track me down is impossible. The harder you try, the more elusive I become. I am nobody's friend. Once I tarnish a reputation, it is never the same. I topple governments and wreck marriages. I ruin careers and cause sleepless nights, heartaches and indigestion. I spawn suspicion and generate grief. I make innocent people cry in their pillows. Even my name hisses.
I am called GOSSIP."
Friends God is working on me with this issue. It is hard in this world to be with a group and avoid this poison. It is rampant and it literally destroys. The process for ridding yourself of this is difficult, as worthwhile things often are. Be mindful when you open your mouth of the things coming out. There are numerous scriptures telling of the powerfulness of the tongue. It can build up a nation or it can tear down and destroy in an instant.
If we truly want to be women that can be respected and wise we need to rid ourselves of this negative use of our speech. Goldy living and gossip can not exist together. Gossip and slander is pure evil and it has no place in the life of a good and Godly woman. Proverbs 31:26 says, " She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue." This is what God intended us to use our gift of speech to do. Speak Wisdom and kind instruction. In the Proverbs it says over and over that slander equals folly and foolishness. Do you want to be known for your wisdom or as a foolish woman? I know what I want to be.
So I am making this a goal. I will, with God's mighty help, rid my mouth of these things of evil and vow to never repeat or listen to viscous gossip. I hope in making this choice that I will do no harm to my fellow Sisters in Christ. Perhaps even inspire some to do the same.
