"If we get consumed with the food itself, instead of the Savior who gave it to us, if we think that the fact that we are clean is our own doing, we can change nothing. If we are filled with disgust at the people who are feeding their children white sugar, then we are standing with our own little group of momPharisees looking down on the dirty people."
"When we say that we cannot eat with people because of the nature of the food, we are behaving like the Pharisees and not like Jesus. Jesus prioritized the table fellowship over the food. We relish the "prestige" of being unable to partake in someone else's food. That was not the part played by our Saviour, and it was not a part that He admired."
~ Rachel Jankcovic, Fit to Burst (bolding mine)
Just some food (ha!) for thought. What are you using to separate yourself? Is it cloth diapering? Is it breastfeeding? Food choices? Birthing choices? When to start solid food? Jar versus home made? White sugar? Fast food? Sling or not to sling? Co-sleeping?
Whatever it is, is it worth it? Is it worth it to hold on to something so tightly you alienate your peers? Would Jesus admire your attitude? If not, isn't it time to change that? I know I have some work to do here.
